Technology & Application
For more than 30 years, we have developed and refined our products through extensive research and real-world testing. This has resulted in us today being able to offer corrosion prevention solutions for almost all metals and imaginable situations.
Volatile Corrosion Inhibitors
Our rust protection products contain the substance Volatile Corrosion Inhibitos (VCI) which works in the following way:
- VCI passivates the flow of electrons between the anodic and cathodic areas of the metal surface.
- VCI forms a physical and hydrophobic layer on the metal that protects and prevents moisture from coming into direct contact with the metal.
- VCI changes the pH value of the electrolyte to a pH range that causes the corrosion reactions to stop or take place very slowly.
How does it work?
Prevent corrosion
Corrosion usually occurs when moisture comes into contact with metal. When this happens, an electron flow starts between small negatively charged cathodes and positively charged anodes. This reaction results in a visible oxidation commonly referred to as rust, corrosion, patina or pitting.
Our products contain components that prevent and slow down the chemical reaction. The products containing VCI emit an invisible, odorless and non-toxic gas that prevents the electrochemical corrosion process. The gas molecules are adsorbed on the exposed metal surfaces, which passivates the electron flow, forms a protective layer against moisture and wetness and creates a corrosion-inhibiting pH value.
